RE: Citation/Corsair Owners?

I had a Citation Supreme for 8 years. They are a good trailer but they are heavy. Give us more info as to what you are looking at and what you have for a truck.

RE: Rusting Truck Fifth-Wheel Tailgate

I had the same problem plus the gate was starting to crack and weaken at the pivots. I repalced it with an aluminum one which is better built, looks better, latches better and is lighter.

RE: unhitching problems

I have Reese hitch and it is hard to release if the king pin is pulling back on the jaws. It took me a long time to figure this out but what I have found on my set up at least is that when I lift the trailer with the jacks the truck will move forward as weight is lifted off the springs thus causing a hard release. I think this is caused by the springs unwrapping as weight comes off. I now get the legs set and before lifting very much I release the hitch and than finish lifting the trailer. I have had other hitches as well and none of them will release easily if there is a lot of back pressure on the jaws or slide bar. If you are in a situation where thr trailer wants to roll back chock your wheels and than let your TV roll back to remove the pressure off jaws or bar. Also on hitches that require lubrication a little maintenance goes a long way.

RE: Break away brake switch activated - quick release?

I had that happen to me once when making a tight turn to get out of a fuel island. I got a fairly soft spring and mounted it to the pin box and ran the break a way cable through the other end. This holds the slack up out of the way so it does not catch on anything and engage the brakes. I have done this on all my fifth wheel trailers and solved the problem.

RE: Corsair and Citation Owners

We have a 2001 31RKS that we've used at least a 100 days or more per year for camping, skiing at Fernie and 2 winters of snowbirding. For the most part it has been a good unit but you need a "truck" to haul it. I don't know of any clubs for these units in our area.

RE: Select Comfort bed

We have one in our house and one in our trailer. The only problem we have is that neither of us want to sleep any where else as these beds are so comfy and have really helped with my back and shoulder problems.

RE: Cedar Creek vs Carriage

Hi. I am new to this forum. We presently have a Citation Supreme and we are planning to go full timing soon. We have looked at a lot of fifth wheels in the last year and have narrowed our first choice down to a Carri-Lite with 4 or 5 slides and loaded up with options. We feel they are a good unit and the dealership where we will probably buy from has been a good business place. I am planning to tow with our 3500 DRW which is well equipped for towing. I know this is pushing the numbers but I have towed heavier with no problems.
